Winter Cabin Camping

Every year in the late winter or early Spring the scouts visit Allamuchy Park in NE New Jersey. Allamuchy is the site of an outdoor center for the Scouting organization and among many other great offerings includes several large cabins. Troop 56 books 2 of these cabins each year for a Cabin Camping weekend. This is a great opportunity for new scouts who have just graduated from the Cub Scouts in the February to have their first experience of Camping.

The Cabins are large and each has a stove and cooking area so though they are basic they are well equipped and warm.

Adults are welcome on the cabin camping trips however since only two adults maximum are allowed to occupy the cabins, all adults traditionally camp outside. It is often very cold at this time of year so be prepared to be camping in the snow.
